NOMBE SEX

Originated from Germany but finding himself flourish in the American music environment, Noah McBeth, aka NoMBe, takes a cross-continental and multi-genre approach to his music, which combines alternative R&B, modern electronic production and soulful songwriting. A significant hallmark of NoMBe’s music is also his divergent use of that electric guitar, from steamy riffs, West Coast warbles and static-y shoegaze, all of which we can hear in his newest single ‘Sex’. It’s part of an ongoing one-song-per-month project, that we’re fully behind here at TMR, so far covering no less than nine of McBeth’s tracks (this one makes it ten!) His latest venture into electric soul is arguably his most sensual yet, with lo-fi, close-to-the-mic vocals that detail intimate bedroom moments, although there’s a sense it goes beyond lust; there’s a genuine feeling to NoMBe’s dulcet tone. The alchemy extends beyond the context here, with the groove-laden drums coming face to face with digital beats that simmer, burn and explode at all the right moments. ‘Sex’ is yet another reason to pay close attention to NoMBe, especially as we’re nearing the highly anticipated release of his album They Might've Even Loved Me, out in the new year. - HT
